At Christmas the queen was standing in front of a Christmas tree and spoke her speech. I take it only the catholics are using a tree at Christmas tree?

Lynne, I`m sorry I can`t picture anything about Church of England. Do they have any old book as: the Bible or Koran or something like that. Who has
started with that faith? Or is it mixed out of several believes? What to the prist say at a service, what is the theme?

The Church of England is Christian, but it broke away from the Roman Catholic faith many centuries ago. It is a Protestant Religion, which came into being
after the 16th Century Reformation, during the reign of Henry the VIII. It is also known as the Anglican Church.
You can read more about it here:- The Church of England.

Thanks Lynne. Now I can understand more that the English Church has captured some parts from the Catholics.

Hey matey!
You're right? I've been in London for two weeks and I've found it very interesting. Everything is big and people are everywhere. The tube is easy to use and an oyster card is easy to top up and you can go again and you must just remember mind the gap between the train and the platform. I like the tube more than buses, but the bus might be more cheaper than the tube, anyway public transport is useful and everybody use it daily for moving. The tubes are fully packed and sometimes you can't even move without elbow battle. If you have claustrophobia I'm not recommending. Food is great and cholesterol goes up:) but hope I can manage. Pubs are great and had nice Sunday lunch and it was excellent. Beer is cheap if I compare to Finland and more tasty. So far it's been going well and looking forward to get more about this beautifully country. cheers mate! |

Hi Jarp,
I'm jealous! I miss English pubs, and I'm certainly missing beer at the moment. Have a great trip, and thanks for sharing. "Mind the gap".

I have learnt about a new topic "Commonwealth of Nations". There are some countries involved and maybe a resident will read my post and can tell
me/us more about that matter.
Is there any positive site for you as a citizen? |

My shopping list for English things is going up.
Hut cartons are very difficult to get in my area. Have any of you an idea where I could get one in London? Maybe Lynne or Amatsu do know a nice shop there, don`t they? |

You need to search for hat boxes in a milliners (hat shop). The problem is that hats aren't as fashionable as they once were, but the larger department
stores like Harrods or Harvey Nicholls will probably sell them (at a price).
There's a nice looking site here:- http://www.sarahshatboxes.com/ And of course, you could always make one:- http://www.associatedcont...nd_cardboard.html?cat=30

Thanks Lynne, if you see on the airport a crazy woman running around with lots of hat boxes probably it`s me.
