Hi,
What we students always say about the teachers? We usually say something bad of them or we are so critical and judgemental. We don't like that how they had suggested to us something last class and how the teacher had said something bad to us while we had spoken something about a new boy/girl in school in middle of lesson. However, I've noticed that many of students don't hate the teachers they've just used to speak something bad of them. My opinion is that the teachers are well educated, consistent, intelligent and they have the advanced knowledge of students, right? Things what makes a good teacher are that the teacher has to be a provocative, critical, determined and of course sense of humour. |

It is a little too big just to put it in here so I'm giving you the link so you could read the full version of it http://www.helpwithstudy.com/lesson2.html

I think that a teacher must put themselves in the shoes of their students. The questions wou must always be asking yourself while explaining things is
"Would I be able to understand this explanation if I didn't have any knowledge of the subject?". This is why it is a bad idea to overload
students with information about grammar.
Also, do always remember that you don't teach for the sake of teaching. The final result must always be getting the students to the stage where they will become independent users of the language. We don't study grammar or vocabulary for the sake of it, but in order to use it in practical everyday situations. |

I just saw the movie Dead Poet Society, which is about a pioneering teacher with his unorthodox teaching method.
It is the passion for teaching and shaping the students' mind that I appreciate very much and think it might be a consideration for a good teacher. |

Today's students are not only looking for information from the teacher, but a fruitful company, a friend and a caring person.

I think passion and qualification are the two prerequisites for being a good teacher. To do a good job, a teacher should have an extreme passion for teaching
coz we all know that teaching is a very very hard job. Because she loves teaching, she will try to find out the best ways to do her job, what she can do to
help develop her students' mind and figure out the way to get on well with them. Of course, as any other jobs, a teacher can only do the best of her job
when she is qualified.

I think that an extreme passion as you said is dangerous because you may be confronted to a strict curriculum or format to follow and I doubt that you'll
be the winner then. Well I hope you will be.
Qualification as a prerequisite? You know I would prefer if you were wrong. A bit of hard studious work, plus you learn the way or strategy for answering accordingly to what is expected in any exam and then almost anyone can pass it but does it mean that you are qualified for the job? On the opposite, there are people whose teaching is their dream and/or they are naturally skilled to do it but they will never get the opportunity to take the same examination, therefore I wish you were wrong Tram. Anyway, you are teaching and you said that you like it; I think it's the most important, do what you really like. |

Hi Xeb,
When I used "an extreme passion", I meant "a strong love for teaching". You really need that kind of passion to overcome the unpleasant feeling when being forced to follow such a hard and strict curriculum!
When I mentioned "qualification", I meant "skill, ability", not " an examination" or something like that. In general I agree with you about what you said about qualification. Of course not anyone who has a qualification can be qualified for the job, but you need to have one if you want to work as a teacher, hehe . Just to let you know, I really appreciate your opinion as well as your help!!!
