Hey everyone,

I am just wondering if most of you can understand what is been said in most Hollywood movies and American TV series? I find it quite difficult without English subtitles. Sometimes it happens in real life as well as I often have to ask people to repeat what they have said. I process the words much faster when I read them than when I hear them. Any ideas on how to improve that?

There is a problem I have not yet found the right solution.

E.g.
You have to read a story or an article or something else and then make a summary. What do you do to get the most important things out of the task?

How would I understand that situation better: I can read books with the level "advanced 3000 words" very well. But when it comes to speaking or writing I cannot use those words because they even do not came in my mind. I live in two different worlds according English.

I have tried to push online tutoring on these forums quite a bit. Mostly because i think that online tutoring is the future of perhaps all tutoring. The internet can be utilized for so much more than just adds, video games, spam, and other unplesant things. It's hard to improve my spoken english when everybody around you speaking chinese. So My dad suggests me that I could talk to native speakers by skype, msn or other im.

I have some friends, and they're native speakers. But I always can't talk to them for real...instead, I always write to them..but never speak to them. I know my english speaking is poor and, I can not even express myself well!!...
